New York Botanical Garden Orchid Dinner
Unless this is your first time reading this blog, you know that I love a beautifully set table. This post contains some of the most beautiful and creative tables I’ve ever seen.
I wish I could tell you that I had set these tables or even dined at them, but sadly, neither is true. The good thing is, they were photographed, so it will feel just like we are there…can you pass the salt, please? Lol!
The New York Botanical Garden is home to some of the most rare and exotic orchids.
This is an orchid lover’s dream!
Every year, the New York Botanical Garden hosts its annual Orchid Dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York. The purpose of the event is to showcase the Garden’s vast collection of orchids. The show culminates in a dinner, at which 25 of New York City’s designers showcase their talent in creating beautiful centerpieces and tablescapes. I was wowed by the pictures. I wanted to share some of them with you.
The event showcases orchids, so of course, the centerpieces are made of orchids; orchids of every variety, shape and configuration.
This is simply stunning!
There are no words!
Some of the tablescapes use the orchids in a more natural context.
Others create a fantasy scene.
Elegance and subtlety are the guiding principles for this tablescape.
The tablescape brings the Orient to you!
This one takes you to Paris.
A reminder of times gone by.
I love the clean lines and simplicity of this tablescape.
“Tropical” must have been the themeof this beautiful table.
I love this modern and refreshing tablescape.
A Closer Look…
Let’s take a look at some of the details of the tablescapes. They really exhibit the artistry involved in a tablescape.
A closer look at these beautifu tablescapes reveals and incredible attention to details. Notice how the fuchsia of the orchids is carried through in the napkins.
These fringed, monogrammed napkins and tablecloth tassels give me life! I love all the rich colors of this tablescape.
The patterned tablecloth adds depth to the table, while the subdued dishes keeps it classy. The marbled ginger jars and vases provide a beautiful contrast.
Just because something is upscale does mean it has to be expensive. This tablescape uses recycled wallpaper inside the vases to add an artistic flare.
I love how the green plays against the purple of the dishes. Sublime! The colorful crystal glassware is just the touch that this tablescape needs.
I am so inspired by the artistry and creativity of the designers. It really makes me want to step up my game. Isn’t that what being a gracious girl is all about?
