Can’t get to New Orleans? No worries! Gracious Living Guide brings the best of Mardi Gras to you! What’s the best and most famous Mardi Gras food? King Cake of course!
What’s not to love about King Cake? It’s ooey gooey good! It’s a cross between a coffee cake and a croissant, with a lot of sugar and sometimes a filling thrown in. You can’t have Mardi Gras without a King Cake.
Gracious Girls, let’s take this King Cake thing to another level – why not take the goodness of King Cake and make it into a cocktail! Let’s make a King Cake Martini!
While shopping in New Orleans recently, I discovered the ultimate – king cake vodka! Imagine my joy! And as you can also imagine, I immediately thought that I needed this in my life!
There are three companies that make king cake vodka. It’s only available during Mardi Gras season, so if you see some, snatch it up. ( I found mine in Walmart.) You can also order it online by clicking here.
Here’s the recipe for King Cake Martini (From Food Network Kitchen)
2 oz. of King Cake Vodka
1/2 oz of Grand Marnier
1/2 oz of Bailey’s Irish Cream
Colored sugar for rimming the glass
Whipped cream for topping
Cinnamon for dusting
1. Place Mardi Gras colored sugar on a plate, being careful not to mix them. Wet the rim of a martini glass, then place in sugar.
2. Combine vodka, Grand Marnier, Bailey’s and almond flavor in a shaker and mix with ice.
3. Pour into martini glass, top with whipped cream and dust with cinnamon.
Tips: If you can’t find King Cake vodka, you can use vanilla vodka and 2 oz. of almond extract.
Invite some friends over and CELEBRATE!
